Mass spectrometry
Also known as: ms · mass spec · lc-ms
A method that measures molecular mass, used to confirm that a sample is the peptide it claims to be.
In plain terms
HPLC tells you how much of a sample is one substance. It cannot tell you which substance. Only mass spectrometry, comparing the observed mass against the theoretical mass for the stated sequence, confirms identity.
A COA with 99% purity and no MS data has established that the vial contains 99% of something.
