Purity
Also known as: area purity · hplc purity
The proportion of the detectable material in a sample that is the target peptide rather than peptide-related impurities.
In plain terms
Purity compares the peptide against the by-products of its own synthesis — truncated chains, deletion sequences, oxidised variants. It says nothing about sterility, heavy metals, endotoxin, or identity.
Around 98% area purity is the usual working expectation for research material. Honest figures vary batch to batch; a catalogue where everything is exactly 99.9% is telling you something, though not about purity.
