Cmax and Tmax

Cmax is the peak concentration a dose reaches; Tmax is how long it takes to get there.
In plain terms
Side effects often track Cmax rather than total exposure, which is the rationale behind titrating slowly and behind splitting doses. Total exposure across time is measured separately, as area under the curve (AUC).
