Antagonist
Also known as: receptor antagonist · blocker
A molecule that binds a receptor without activating it, blocking the body’s own signal from getting through.
In plain terms
An antagonist occupies the seat without doing the job. It has no effect of its own in the absence of the natural signal — which is why antagonists are often silent until the system they block is under load.
