Lot number

The identifier for one specific production run, linking a physical vial to the certificate that describes it.
In plain terms
Batch traceability is the whole basis of the COA’s value. If a vendor cannot tell you which batch your vial came from and show you its certificate, the certificate describes someone else’s vial.
Matching a lot number is necessary but not sufficient. FDA seized counterfeit Ozempic that carried a genuine lot number; the counterfeits were distinguishable only by the position of the text on the label.
