Biosimilar
A biological product highly similar to an approved reference biologic, with no clinically meaningful differences.
In plain terms
Because biologics are produced in living systems, an exact copy is impossible — hence "biosimilar" rather than "generic". Small-molecule generics can be chemically identical; biologics cannot.
